Without You——除佐Mariah Carey，仲有Harry Nilsson- -

                                      

有一种众所周知的说法，《Without You》是花蝴蝶Mariah Carey的招牌歌曲，是一首能够充分展示她海豚音花腔的经典作品，也是让她能从此响誉世界、并引进第三世界穷苦大众空前关注的华彩妙章，以上的说法可以说都是OK的，只是你千万不要把这首歌曲当成是Mariah Carey的发明、是她绝一无二的首唱，其实，这首作品最早的主人除了它的原创者Ham和Evans外，真正首唱的却是一位也许内地乐迷并不太熟悉的美国唱作人Harry Nilsson，一个满脸络腮胡也不知道修饰的脏不拉几的音乐人，不过，这位老兄除了能歌会唱之外，却还有一件能喝酒、并能豪饮的本事，也正是凭着这两件感性之事，让他在纽约因而得识当时侨居此城的John Lennon，甚至还有The Beatles的吉它手George harrison，尤其是他和前者这位乐坛神话般的人物的交情更是非浅，以至于John Lennon在生前还把他的日记交给了Harry Nilsson保管。事实上，这两个纵情于酒（色字先略过不提）之中的男人，在当时音乐风格的取向上也有很多相同的地方，融入了很多布鲁斯音乐和凯尔特音乐元素，亦正亦邪、亦俗亦雅。

说回这首由Harry Nilsson首唱的《Without You》，本人无意一定非得和Mariah Carey的版本分出个你死我活、争出个上下高低，但我确实非常喜欢这个儠遢男人对于此曲的演绎处理，主歌部分朦朦胧胧的要死不活样，到过渡段落带点沧桑、带点颓废的成熟，直至最后完全用呐喊声刺上去的高声部分，不依靠假声，也不依靠花腔的高音技巧加工，就那么重重地托起，然后消失于音响的最后端，一切就又像没发生过一样，就像那张收录于此曲首唱版本专辑《Nilsson Schmilsson》封面上那个穿着浴袍的Harry Nilsson一样介于一种幻梦于现实的表情，就那么空幻、就那么失落。

在去年，我第一时间拿到了《Nilsson Schmilsson》2004年的美国再版，除了保持有LP的十首曲目之外，还加收了6首歌曲，其中更收有西班牙语版的《Without You》，歌名为《Si No Estas Tu》，听来同样荡人心魄，而且因为西班牙语本身具有的更有丰韵的发音特色，也让这首版本更显得感性和动人。
